Geography
Cooksville Mississauga is bounded by an area east of Old Station Road, west of Cawthra Road, North of the QEW and Dundas. The Trillium Hospital Queensway is located in Cooksville.
Recreation
The Mississauga Valley Park and Community center has an arena, pool, gym and a large outdoor park. The Mississauga Central Library and City Hall are located in Streetsville. There is a large YMCA and Cooksville is also home to the Living Arts Centre which holds a variety of concerts and cultural events throughout the year. Playdium is located here, it is an indoor amusement park, batting cage and in the summer months go-carts.
History
The area around the Hurontario Street and Dundas Street intersection was originally known as Harrisville, named for Daniel Harris, who in 1809 purchased land and built a sawmill there. When Harris returned to the United States, Jacob Cook bought land and settled there in 1819 and the village was renamed Cooksville. In the 1870s Cooksville was chosen as the site of the Toronto Township Hall and remained the centre of the township until the development of the City Centre to the north
