Geography
Meadowvale is in the North West part of Mississauga west of the Credit River. Roughly the boundaries of Meadowvale are: Mississauga Road, Ninth Line, Hwy. 401 and Britannia Road.
People moving to and living in this part of Mississauga enjoy the great number of interconnecting trials and parks here that are great for walking, biking, rollerblading, or jogging. Meadowvale has to lakes, Wabuakayne and Aquitaine being the larger of the two. Aquitaine is located adjacent to the Community Centre. Both of these lakes are man made, and people enjoy fishing in and seeing the wildlife. These two lakes are connected by the trail system and are about 1 1/2 kilometers apart.
Recreation
In addition to the trial system, Meadowvale has an arena; Meadowvale 4 Rinks, a community center with a pool, workout room, squash and racquetball courts. There is a leash free dog park, and a BMX track run by the City.
History
Meadowvale was originally established in the 1820’s by people who and emigrated from Ireland by way of New York. The main industry originally was milling as the Credit River was close by.
Towards the end of the 1950’s construction began on the new highway 401 south of the Village of Meadowvale and opened several months later.
In 1968 Meadowvale was incorporated into the new Town of Mississauga. In the 1970’s the land west of the original village was developed into subdivisions, and was one of Canada’s fist “planned communities”. The community was built around the Meadowvale Town Centre shopping plaza and the lakes and community centre.
Just north of Meadowvale along Erin Mills Parkway is one of the largest business parks in Mississauga. People considering purchasing real estate in Meadowvale often do so because of the close proximity to the major employers that have offices here.

Shopping
Meadowvale Town Centre has a major grocery store, Canadian Tire, many smaller shops, banks and restaurants.
There is also a “Power Center” located at the 401 and Winston Churchill with many big box stores, smaller retailers and banks.
Additionally there are a lot of smaller plazas located in and amounts the homes in the Meadowvale community.
Transit
Highways 401 and 407 are within easy reach, the 407 crosses the 401 just west of Winston Churchill and heads west towards Oakville.
There are two Go Train Stations in Meadowvale, the Lisgar and Meadowvale Stations. Many people who live in Meadowvale commute downtown using the train.
There are also Go bus and City busses that run through this area.
